Application server considerations

BMC Dashboards for BSM is certified to work with the Apache Tomcat application server. The installation utility can install it for you.

BMC recommends installing the version of Tomcat provided with the product if you are installing a standalone configuration and requires it if you are installing a clustered configuration. For a standalone configuration, even if you have another Tomcat installed, you can provide different port numbers for the new installation. The Tomcat provided with the product is preconfigured to work with BMC Dashboards for BSM, and it enables the BMC Dashboards for BSM Tomcat service to be stopped and started independently of any other applications that use Tomcat, isolating any IT service disruption.

To use Apache Tomcat that is already installed in your environment with a standalone configuration, you can provide the installation directory of the existing Tomcat instance, and then configure the Tomcat server.xml file following the installation.
