Uninstalling BMC Dashboards for BSM from a UNIX or Linux computer

Use this procedure to uninstall any component of BMC Dashboards for BSM on the local computer. When you run the uninstallation script, the script automatically removes files and stops processes related to BMC Dashboards for BSM.

Before you begin

If you are installing a clustered BMC Atrium Data Integration Layer (BMC Atrium DIL) server, you should remove the server from the cluster before performing this task. For more information, see Removing-a-server-from-the-BMC-Atrium-DIL-cluster.

Ensure that you have the privileges required to run the uninstallation script provided and that you have read and write permission to the installation directory.

Run the pre-uninstall.sh script as root before uninstalling so that you do not have to uninstall the product as root.

To uninstall BMC Dashboards for BSM on UNIX or Linux

  1. Navigate to $BSMDASHBOARDS_HOME\BSMDashboards.
  2. Run the uninstall.sh file.
  3. In the uninstaller window, click Next.
  4. Select the BMC Dashboards for BSM component that you want to uninstall, and click Next.
  5. If you are uninstalling a clustered BMC Dashboards for BSM application server, you receive a message prompting you to delete the configuration data. Click Next after making your selection.

If you are uninstalling a clustered installation, you may see one or two messages:
    • If you are uninstalling a clustered BMC Dashboards for BSM application server, you receive a message prompting you to delete the configuration data from the external database and to remove the integration with the BMC Atrium DIL server.

If you enable the option, product configuration data including users, pod preferences, and custom pods is deleted from the external database. Removing the integration with the BMC Atrium DIL server will invalidate the application server cluster so that no other application server nodes can access the cluster. Enable the option only if this is the last application server in the cluster or if you are removing the product from your environment.

If you do not enable the option, you can proceed with the uninstallation by removing the BMC Dashboards for BSM application server files from the local computer computer only.

Click Next after making your selection.
    • If you are uninstalling a clustered BMC Dashboards for BSM DIL server and this is the last node in the cluster, you receive a message requesting you to delete the data in the external database.

If you enable this option, deleting the BMC Atrium DIL data from the external database will invalidate the BMC Dashboards for BSM environment. Following the completion of the installation, you must update the BMC Dashboards for BSM application server to point to a different BMC Atrium DIL server.

If you do not enable this option, the BMC Atrium DIL application files will be removed from the local host.

Click Next after making your selection.
  6. Review the summary information, and click Next.
The uninstaller uninstalls the BMC Dashboards for BSM component.
  7. Click Finish to exit the uninstaller.
