Installation process overview

To ensure that you complete all the installation and post installation tasks that might be required for your environment, use the tables in this section.

The following tables list the high-level installation tasks for both standalone and clustered configurations.

Install the BMC Dashboards for BSM application server and BMC Atrium DIL on the same computer.

If you are using BMC Dashboards for BSM with BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management, apply BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management patch.

If you are using BMC Dashboards for BSM with BMC Transaction Management Application Response Time (BMC TM ART), enable SSL for communication.

If you are using BMC Dashboards for BSM with BMC Service Impact Manager (BMC SIM), configure the BMC Impact Integration Web Services

If you want to minimize data loss and downtime in the event that the product becomes unstable, create a standby installation.

Log on to the BMC Dashboards for BSM Administrator console.

You can add additional BMC Atrium DIL nodes to the cluster after the initial installation, but you will need to configure the load balancer for the additional nodes. See the load balancer documentation for more information.

Install the primary BMC Dashboards for BSM application server on a computer separate from the BMC Atrium DIL component and connect it to a clustered BMC Atrium DIL server. Configure it to the load balancer used by BMC Atrium DIL.

Install one or more secondary BMC Dashboards for BSM application server nodes. Configure each node to the load balancer used by BMC Atrium DIL.

Join each application server node to the application server cluster

If you are using BMC Dashboards for BSM with BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management, apply the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management patch to each node in the BMC Atrium DIL cluster.

If you are using BMC Dashboards for BSM with BMC TM ART, enable SSL for communication.
