Architecture

BMC Dashboards for BSM product consists of the following components:

  • A rich internet application that runs in the Adobe Flash plug-in to your web browser
  • A back-end that is deployed on Apache Tomcat application server
  • BMC Atrium Data Integration Layer (BMC Atrium DIL), built using Composite technology, licensed by BMC
  • BMC Atrium DIL accesses data from the BMC data sources. It is a Java application that contains a query engine, a library of views and procedures, a cache, and a metadata repository. The metadata repository is an embedded MySQL database. The data caching database can be an embedded database (for standalone configurations) or an external database (for clustered configurations).

The following figure displays the major components of BMC Dashboards for BSM and the BSM data sources.

The data sources can be of varying database types and can even differ from the database used by BMC Atrium DIL.
