Enabling SSL for client communication

BMC Dashboards for BSM uses the SSL protocol to encrypt communication between the client browser and the application server. The first time a client browser accesses the BMC Dashboards for BSM application server, it displays a message concerning the application server's SSL certificate. The message that you see varies according to the browser you use, but the options are as follows:

  • Accept the certificate permanently (or install the certificate, depending on your browser).
  • Accept the certificate temporarily for the current session only (depending on your browser).
  • Do not accept the certificate and do not connect to the application server.
  • View the detailed certificate.

BMC Dashboards for BSM cannot be accessed without accepting the certificate. If you use the product frequently, accept the certificate permanently so that the message will no longer be displayed on future connection attempts.

Specific procedures for certificate acceptance or installation vary based on the client browser. See your browser documentation for instructions about accepting or installing a certificate.
