Configuring BMC Impact Integration Web Services

BMC Dashboards for BSM communicates with the BMC Service Impact Manager (BMC SIM) cells through BMC Impact Integration Web Services. BMC Impact Integration Web Services is installed when you install the BMC Portal.

To configure BMC Impact Integration Web Services, add information to the BMC Impact Integration Web Services mcell.dir file about each cell. For more information about mcell.dir files and configuration, see BMC Impact Integration Web Services Installation and Configuration Manual.

Before you begin

If BMC Impact Integration Web Services has not already been configured to recognize the cells, you must configure it before BMC Dashboards for BSM can collect data from the cells.

To configure the BMC Impact Integration Web Services mcell.dir file

  1. On the computer where BMC Impact Integration Web Services is installed, navigate to the mcell.dir file in the BMC Impact Integration Web Services installation directory.

Refer to BMC Impact Integration Developer’s Kit Web Services Server Developer Guide for the location information, as this location may vary by version. For version 7.1 of BMC SIM, the path is SIMInstallDirectory\Impact\WebServices\mcell\mcell.dir.
  2. Open the mcell.dir file with a text editor.
  3. On the computer where the BMC SIM cell is installed, navigate to the mcell.dir file.
  4. Open the mcell.dir file with a text editor and copy the line containing information about the BMC SIM cell. The information includes the type, name, encryption key, and IP address and port.
  5. Paste the line from the BMC SIM cell mcell.dir file into the BMC Impact Integration Web Services mcell.dir file.
  6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 until you have added information for each BMC SIM cell.
  7. Save and close the mcell.dir files.
  8. Stop and restart the BMC Impact Integration Web Services service.
