Setting a custom data source with a relational database


This section explains the procedures to set a custom data source with a relational database. You can configure the following relational databases as data source:

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008, and 2012
  • MySQL
  • Oracle
  • Oracle RAC
  • PostgreSQL
  • Sybase
  • SybaseASA

Note

You can also select Microsoft SQL Server Windows Authentication 2008 and 2012 as custom data source. The following are prerequisites:

  • You must have BMC Dashboards for Business Service Management 7.7.02.01 installed.
  • Ensure that the BMC Atrium DIL Server service is running with Windows authentication. For more information, see Configure how a service is started.

To set a relational database as a custom data source

  1. Go to the Admin Console for BMC Dashboards for BSM and on the BMC Dashboards for BSM Login screen, enter your administrator login ID and password.
  2. Click Login.
  3. Go to Data Source Configuration > Custom Data Sources and click New Custom Data Source.
  4. Under the Database Properties section, for the Database Type field, select a relational database.
  5. Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
  6. Fill in the required information for the remaining fields and click Save.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
