Syncing LDAP groups and users

As a tenant administrator, you can download, configure, and run the LDAP sync agent to sync groups and users from an LDAP server in your company into BMC Helix Portal.

The groups and users synced into BMC Helix Portal are displayed in the same way as the manually configured user groups and users, with the type External.

The synced groups and users are displayed on the User access > User groups page and the User access > Users and keys page respectively. Each time a sync is initiated, newly added groups and users as well as changes to existing groups and users in LDAP are reflected on the BMC Helix Portal console. 

You can configure the LDAP sync agent to:

  • Sync groups only, users only, or groups and users along with their mapping. 
  • Perform a one-time or recurring sync of groups and users based on a specified schedule. 
  • Sync particular groups and users only based on specified search filters.

After the sync is complete, assign the appropriate roles and permissions to the synced groups and users.
