emdef Utility Suite Replacement

BMC Software is reminding you that it is ending support for emdef Utility Suite as of the Control-M/EM 9.0.27 new release, planned for October 2026, as per the Technical Bulletins issued on 21 May 2023 and 12 September 2024, in accordance with the BMC Software Product Support Policy.

emdef Utility Suite is now in Limited Support for the supported versions of Control-M/EM. It is no longer enhanced, and BMC will handle only critical bugs. 

Jobs that use these utilities will no longer run on version 9.0.27 and higher. This applies to all emdef utilities except for the following, which BMC will continue to support until replacements are provided:

• importpromotionrule
• exportpromotionrule
• exportdefservice
• defservice

BMC will notify you when replacements for these utilities are available.

The following table shows the Automation API equivalents (available in both SaaS and self-hosted environments) that BMC recommends you use to replace the emdef utilities that you are using:
