XML Format Deprecation
17 February 2025
BMC is alerting you to a change in support in accordance with the BMC Software Product Support Policy.
As part of our ongoing effort to focus on JSON and improve consistency throughout Control-M, XML is now deprecated as a supported format throughout the various interfaces in Control-M.
XML support is deprecated:
- The following features are deprecated:
- EMDEF XML utilities (deprecated since version 9.0.21.100, as described in emdef Utility Suite Deprecation).
- Automation API support for XML (deprecated since version 9.0.21.100, as described in Automation API XML Deprecation)
- Import/export in XML format to/from the Web UI (deprecated effective immediately)
- The Control-M/Server XML utilities ctmimptb and ctmpsm -IMPORT_CAL, which is used to import Folders and Calendars (deprecated effective immediately)
- The XML output format of Control-M for z/OS utilities CTMTLB and IOACLB which are used to export Folders and Calendars (deprecated from version 9.0.22.000). In version 9.0.22.000, you can export to JSON using the new CTMJSNEX utility.
- These features will reach End of Support on June 1st, 2027 and Version 9.0.22.100 is the last version that will include these features.
Implications:
- Deprecated features are no longer enhanced but are still supported until their End of Support dates.
- XML as a format will no longer be supported after June 1st 2027.
- Features that are no longer supported will not have bugs fixed and BMC might remove its code partially or entirely from future releases.
- Control-M Client Support will end in 2027, as described in Control-M Client End of Support. BMC recommends that you use Control-M Web to import/export workloads as JSON.
