Value Dashboard

The TrueSight Server Automation Value Dashboard shows the potential value in terms of dollars and hours that can be realized by your organization by using TrueSight Server Automation. This dashboard report fetches information for the past twelve months. For example, if the report runs on May 2, 2014, the report gathers data from May 1, 2013 to April 30, 2014. The report may take 5 to 30 minutes to complete depending on how many job runs and servers have been targeted over the last 12 months.

By default, the Value Dashboard report is defined to use a set of standard values based on assessments BMC has performed. You can change those values to match the standards of your own organization. The parameters have the following default values:

  • FTE Cost Per Hour (in Dollars) - 30
  • Windows Configuration Management Efforts (in Hours) - 1
  • Unix/Linux Configuration Management Efforts (in Hours) - 1
  • Windows Patching Efforts (in Hours) - 0.3
  • Unix/Linux Patching Efforts (in Hours) - 4
  • Windows Compliance Measurement (in Hours) - 0.25
  • Unix/Linux Compliance Measurement (in Hours) - 0.25
  • Windows Provisioning Efforts (in Hours) - 3
  • Unix/Linux Provisioning Efforts (in Hours) - 3

A standard installation of TrueSight Server Automation sets up the Value Dashboard report. The report should run regularly using default settings and parameters.

If the database server is running on Oracle, ensure that the data warehouse user has been granted the following permissions:

  • GRANT SELECT ON dba_free_space TO datawarehouseUser
  • GRANT SELECT ON v_$log TO datawarehouseUser
  • GRANT SELECT ON v_$tempfile TO datawarehouseUser
  • GRANT SELECT ON v_$datafile TO datawarehouseUser
  • GRANT SELECT ON v_$instance TO datawarehouseUser

If the database server is running on SQL Server, ensure that the data warehouse user has been granted the following permission:

GRANT VIEW SERVER STATE TO datawarehouseUser
