This section answers some frequently asked questions about TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation.

What do I do if I get an error related to Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installation?

During TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse installation, the installer checks whether the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable is in working state. You might receive an error message on a Windows 2012 R2 system when the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable is installed and the required Microsoft Updates are not installed. 

As a prerequisite to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 on Windows 2012 R2, you must have the following patches installed on your server:

  • KB2919442 (Required for 2919355)
  • KB2919355. This patch requires several other patches: clearcompressionflag.exe, KB2919355, KB2932046, KB2959977, KB2937592, KB2938439, and KB2934018. This are all available on the download page for KB2919355.

After installing the required Microsoft Updates, run the TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse installer again.

What do I do when I change the Warehouse Database details like passwords and my reports are not showing data?

Once you modify the Warehouse Database password, you must modify the datasource name in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform.

How do I create user groups in TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation?

What do I do if I have installed TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse and TrueSight Smart Reporting on separate servers and the browser is not able to resolve the hostname?

Open your hosts file in a text editor (for example, notepad) and modify the IP address. The hosts file is present in the following location:

(Windows)  C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\

(Linux) /etc/

If I have archived reports in BMC Decision Support for Server Automation, can I use them in TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation?

No, you cannot use the reports that you have archived in BMC Decision Support for Server Automation.

However, you can take a note of the report attributes and create the same reports in TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation. For information about how to create reports, see Creating-reports.

What to I do if I cannot create reports by using Freehand SQL?

Ensure that TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform administrator has assigned the Public Content Writer & Collaborator - Advanced role to your user in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform.

After adding a component, how do I see the reports?

You can launch TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform from your TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse console. You can view the out-of-the-box reports or you can create your own reports.

After adding a component for a component type in TrueSight Smart Reporting, can I add another component of the same type?

You can add multiple components in TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform. However, you can add only a single instance of a particular component type in one instance of TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform. For example, you can add both TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse and TrueSight Network Automation - Data Warehouse as components. However, you can add only a single instance of TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse in one instance of TrueSight Smart Reporting - Platform.
