Setting up the databases for TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse


Before installing TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse, you must set up the required databases, as described in the following topics:

Recommendation

BMC recommends you to use separate database instances for the data warehouse database and the TrueSight Server Automation database.

NEW IN 20.02.01To use TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse with Oracle Exadata, do the following:

  1. Log in to the system where the Oracle Database is installed.
  2. Configure the following system-level parameters:
    1. Set the value for the PARALLEL_DEGREE_POLICY parameter to AUTO or ADAPTIVE by running the following command:
      ALTER SYSTEM SET PARALLEL_DEGREE_POLICY = ADAPTIVE
    2. Set the value for the GLOBAL_NAMES parameter to FALSE by running the following command:
      ALTER SYSTEM SET GLOBAL_NAMES = FALSE

For a multi-site deployment of TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse, where a secondary TrueSight Server Automation site uses a different character set, the following setup is supported:

  • Application Server 1 database uses CHAR.
  • Application Server 2 database uses NCHAR.
  • TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse server 1 database uses NCHAR.

TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse server 1 cannot use CHAR because you cannot run ETL from an NCHAR database to a CHAR database.
