Classic perspective (default)

The default, or Classic, perspective is the general purpose perspective that opens the first time you run the console. It contains two views, a view tab group, and a content editor. The views include:

  • Folders view — Provides you with access to resources in your data center and lets you provision devices, manage servers, jobs, users, and other assets needed for data center automation, and search the data center. For more information, see Folders-view-and-resource-management.
  • Properties, Permissions, Audit Trail views — (tab group) Includes three views for managing properties, permissions, and audit trails for objects selected in the Folders view. You can manage each view individually or as a tab group. For more information, see Properties-Permissions-and-Audit-Trail-tab-group.
  • Tasks in Progress view — Manages and monitors the status of jobs. For more information, see Managing jobs in progress.

In the Classic perspective, the Folders view at left provides access to functional areas or resources known as folders (see Folders-view-and-resource-management).

When you select an item from the Folders view, it opens in the content editor at right. Tabs on the content editor provide information about assets, such as the contents of a file or BLPackage.
