Patch Downloader utility for SUSE Linux Enterprise
The Patch Downloader utility for SUSE Linux provided by BMC uses a configuration file to download metadata and payload from the SUSE Linux Enterprise website.
Creation of a patch catalog requires that the following packages be pre-installed on the server that hosts the patch repository:
Package | Tested version |
---|---|
createrepo | 0.4.6 |
pythonurlgrabber | 2.9.6 |
Later versions of these packages can also work. However, they are not certified by BMC.
Note the following:
- Ensure that the following library packages are installed on your Linux system: glibc.i686 or glibc.i386.
Alternatively, ensure that the JRE version is upgraded to 17.0.10+7. - If you are creating a SuSE 11 or 12 patch catalog, ensure that the following additional prerequisites are met:
- Subscription Management Tool (SMT) is installed and configured on the SuSE patch repository server.
- The smt.conf file in /etc is configured to provide smtUser with read/write/execute permissions at the repository location.
- If you are using a SuSE 15 server for storing SuSE patches, ensure that the Repository Mirroring Tool (RMT) is installed and configured on the server.
The Patch Downloader is suse_downloader.sh that you can run on UNIX. To install, extract the file and place it in a directory on the server.
