Troubleshooting HP-UX Vendor Patch Content patch management issue


The online HP-UX Vendor Patch Content (VPC) Patch Analysis Job fails with the authentication error.

Issue symptoms

The following error messages appear when you run the online HP-UX VPC Patch Analysis Job:

Error     08/09/2022 17:10:57     ERROR:   Unknown error occurred during user authorization.

Error     08/09/2022 17:10:57              (user=root)  (jobid=pnvh.abc.com)

Error     08/09/2022 17:10:57     NOTE:    More information may be found in the Software Assistant logfile

Error     08/09/2022 17:10:57              "/var/opt/swa/swa.log".

Error     08/09/2022 17:10:58     Error while downloading swa catalog file, command returned [1]

Error     08/09/2022 17:10:58     If Proxy is set, please confirm the proxy parameters

Resolution

Perform the following steps as a workaround:

  1. Run the following command on the HP-UX (SWA) Server to register the SWA client:

    swa clireg -x proxy=http://<proxyHost>:<port> -x hp_id=<userName> -x hp_pw=<password>

    Example:

    swa clireg -x proxy=http://10.135.x.xx:xx -x hp_id=jsans -x hp_pw=password
  2. Run the VPC installer and select option 5 to set the proxy server for running the HP-UX Patch Analysis Job:
