Component - General

The General panel lets you provide information that identifies the component template and the server where you want to create a component.

This panel contains the following fields and screen elements:

Name

An identifying name for the component.
By default, this field uses the name of the component template on which you are basing this component, but you can enter a different name if necessary.

Description

(Optional) Descriptive text for the component.

Component Template

The component template that forms the basis of this component.
By default, this field uses the component template that you initially selected when launching the New Component wizard. To choose a different component template, click Browse g_V95_BrowseIcon.gif, and then navigate to and select the relevant component template.

Property Set Instance

The local property set instance that you want to use when creating this component.
If this component should not use a local property set instance, leave this field blank.
To provide property values that only apply to this component rather than using a local property set instance, use the Properties panel of this wizard to define values for individual local properties.

Server

The server where you want to create this component.
Click Browse and then navigate to and select the relevant server.

Note

If you select Linux servers, make sure that the RSCD agent on those servers is configured with root permissions. Otherwise, a Compliance Job that references discovered components on the Linux servers fails. The error message in this case is: Root privileges are required for executing this script.
