UCS Template - LAN VNICs tab
The LAN VNICs tab enables you to specify MAC addresses and VLAN information.
- Name: Uniquely identifies a LAN NIC within the context of the template.
Use one of the following methods to specify the MAC address associated with a LAN NIC:- MAC Address: Choose this option if you want to specify the MAC address manually.
- MAC Pool: Choose this option if you want to specify a MAC pool. For information on creating MAC pools, see Creating-pools-in-the-Depot-folder.
- Derived MAC: Choose this option to obtain the MAC address from the hardware on which you deploy the profile.
- VLAN Name: Use one of the following methods to specify VLAN information:
- For a single LAN: Specify the VLAN to which you want this NIC to connect.
- For VLAN trunking: Specify a list of VLANs to which you want this NIC to connect. This method is typically used by VMware hosts (ESX servers). Set the first LAN in the list as the native VLAN on the UCS system.
- Switch ID: Depending on the selected VLAN, you can choose which switch to use for communication, and whether failover is supported or not. Make sure that your switch selection is valid for the specified VLAN—an invalid combination can prevent the profile from getting associated with a blade.
- Use common MAC pool: You can provide a common MAC pool for use by all of the LAN NICs in the template. If you check Use common MAC pool, you override any MAC address settings for individual NICs and the provisioning process allocates MAC addresses for all of the LAN NICs from the specified pool. For information on creating MAC pools, see Creating-pools-in-the-Depot-folder.
