Creating a UUID pool

To include a UUID with your blade configuration information, you can specify it manually, or you can create a UUID suffix pool that contains ranges of UUIDs. After you create a UUID suffix pool, the UCS template can use the pool to find an available UUID during provisioning.

Note that the UUIDs in the pool are actually allocated during the provisioning process—they are not allocated when you create the UCS template. The provisioning process allocates the UUIDs in the pool sequentially.

Note

If you run out of UUIDs in a UUID suffix pool, you can deallocate one or more UUIDs, thus making them available for provisioning. For information, see Managing-UCS-systems.

To create a UUID pool

  1. In the Depot folder, right-click a folder under which you want to create the pool and select New > UCS > UUID Pool.
  2. Provide information for the new pool as described in the following sections:

  3. Click Finish.
The pool appears in the Depot folder hierarchy.

Note

To edit a defined UUID pool, open the Depot folder and navigate to the pool. Right-click the the name of the pool and select Open. The pool appears in the editor, where you can change, add, or delete UUID suffix ranges.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
