Content editors

TrueSight Server Automation integrates multiple editors to provide you with access to files based on the file type.

The system supports the following content editors:

  • BL Editor — A Text and XML editor that supports different encoding methods as well as standard text editing capabilities. For more information, see Viewing-and-editing-text-files-using-BL-Editor.
  • Default — A default editor that can be modfied using the Window > Preferences > Editors menu to specify a default editor (for more information about setting preferences, see Customizing-preferences).
  • ShellEd — A third-party Shell Script editor that supports opening, editing, and saving Network Shell Script files. For more information, see Viewing and editing Network Shell script files using ShellEd.
  • Tail -f — A read-only editor that lets you dynamically monitor the most recent additions to a log file. For more information, see Viewing-files-using-a-tail-f-editor.
  • Other — A window that displays all editors available on your system. If the editor you select is not appropriate for the object, the system generates an error message.

Note

When you are interacting with dialog boxes or windows in the TrueSight Server Automation Console, all the keys function in the global menu context. For example, if you are using one of the New Object Wizards, the key bindings reflect the global menu key bindings.
When you open a text editor, all of the key bindings function in the context of the specific editor. For example, if you open a Network Shell Script file, the key bindings are specific to the ShellEd content editor.
In some cases key bindings are the same between editors. For example, Copy (Ctrl- C) and Paste (Ctrl-V) tend to be universal.
