Examples of smart group rules for PCI FIM servers
Smart group rules are based on server properties. Some examples follow.
You can create a property that you configure on every server that defines whether the server should be included in PCI FIM change tracking. For example, create the property TARGET.IN_SCOPE_PCI, configure it on all servers, make the default value false, and explicitly set the value to true on all servers that should be in scope for PCI FIM. The smart group rule would be:
TARGET.IN_SCOPE_PCI = trueYou can use existing properties to decide if the server should be included. For example:
TARGET.ENVIRONMENT = Production AND CUSTOMER = FINANCE- You can use the NAME or DESCRIPTION properties if you implement consistent naming conventions for those properties.
- To limit the number of servers subjected to any one Discover Job, very large data centers might find it efficient to define separate server smart groups by operating system. In that case, duplicate the same set of rules in all of the smart groups, changing only the rule that tests for OS.
Typically, a test for OS is not necessary. The contributory component templates, which BMC recommends that you use, include discover rules that test the OS.
