Viewing information about Application Servers

You can display information about an Application Server and the services that it runs. This information can be useful for diagnostic purposes.

About the Application Server Launchers node

Through the Application Server Launchers node, you can get the same information about Application Servers and perform the same operations as with the Application Servers node. However, it is only through the Application Server Launcher that you can:

  • Obtain port information for the Application Server Launcher.
  • Create new Application Servers.
  • Edit the list of roles allowed access to the Application Server Launcher.

The Application Server Launchers node lists a node for each Application Server Launcher that is configured to use the database and is available. (For information, see Understanding-the-Application-Server.)

To display information about the Application Server

Important

  • To display information about the Application Server in Infrastructure Management, your role must be granted the BL_Administration.Read authorization.
  • To view or perform management tasks on the Application Server (such as Start/Stop, Terminate, Restart, etc.) in Infrastructure Management, your role must be granted access to the Application Server Launcher. By default, only the BLAdmins role has this access. If you're not a BLAdmin, you'll need to explicitly add your role to gain access. For more information, see To edit the list of roles with Application Server Launcher access.
  1. In the TrueSight Server Automation Console, from the Configuration menu, select Infrastructure Management.
  2. Expand the hierarchy of the Application Servers node.

To generate a report of Application Server information

You can generate a report containing information about all of the Application Servers on the host. The report includes:

  • General information for each Application Server configured on the host machine (and using the same database) and status information about each Application Server services.
  • General information for each PXE server connected to the database and status information about each PXE servers services.
  • Information about the database to which the Application Server is connected.
  1. In the TrueSight Server Automation Console, from the Configuration menu, select Infrastructure Management.
  2. In the Infrastructure Management window, click Export Detail Report.
  3. In the Export AppServer Details Report dialog box, select a directory where the report should be stored. Optionally, select a subdirectory by double-clicking its name in the panel.
  4. In the dialog box, enter the information for the report file:
    1. For Object Name, type a file name for the report.
    2. For Object Type, select a file format.
    3. For File Encoding, select the type of character encoding that should be used for the exported data, such as UTF - 8 or Western (Windows - 1252).
  5. Click Save.
