Configuring the HP-UX patch repository for download

Patches previously deployed to target servers are compared to patches available for download on the vendor site. During analysis, binaries and metadata are downloaded in preparation for packaging and deployment to the target servers. The HP-UX patch repository should reside either directly on the SWA Server or in a directory that the SWA Server considers to be a local share.

To configure the HP-UX patch repository for download

  1. On the TrueSight Server Automation Console, in the Jobs folder, point to HP-UX Patch Analysis => Patch Analysis Jobs => HP-UX Patch Analysis Job.
  2. Right click HP-UX Patch Analysis Job and select Open.
  3. Click the Parameters tab.
  4. Enter values for the following, mandatory parameters:

    • SWA Server: The host name or IP address of an SWA Server managed by BMC Software.
    • SWA Location: The path statement for the SWA patch repository.
    • SWA Installation Path: The local path where SWA is installed.

    Note

Because the total file size of patch binaries and metadata can become quite large, BMC Software recommends allocating at least 50 gigabytes of disk space to the patch repository directory.

  5. Click OK.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
