Troubleshooting Smart Agent issues

This topic describes how to troubleshoot the issue that you encounter when working with a Smart Agent.

Issue

Solution/Workaround

When you upgrade TrueSight Server Automation to version 24.2, the Smart Agent service does not start on the Debian server after the upgrade.

Use any of the following workarounds to start the Smart Agent service after upgrading:

Workaround 1:
Before upgrading TrueSight Server Automation to version 24.2, manually add the following parameter in the installation configuration file at /tmp/nsh-install-defaults:

SMARTAGENT_SERVICE=1

Then, proceed with the upgrade.

Workaround 2:
After the upgrade, manually start the Smart Agent service.

When multiple application servers process the same work request from a Smart Agent for the same target server simultaneously, the request on one application server completes successfully, and on the other, it results in the following exception in the application server log:

ORA-00001: unique constraint (BLADELOGIC.XPKDAALREGISTERED_CLASS) violated

Ignore the exception as the work request is processed successfully by the other application server.
