TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery adds content to TrueSight Server Automation and enables you to browse and manage the third-party software applications that you have installed on your servers through the TrueSight Server Automation Console. The information about software applications on the servers is obtained through an integration with BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping.

Software discovery goals and benefits

Using TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery, you can accomplish the following goals:

• Discover third-party software applications installed on your servers through an integration with BMC Atrium Discovery and Dependency Mapping.
• Browse and view information about the software applications installed on your servers through the TrueSight Server Automation Console.
• Check for the existence of specific software applications on your servers by running Discovery Jobs based on signatures in which you specify the relevant software applications.
• Run Snapshot Jobs based on discovered software applications to record the software configuration of your servers at a point in time.
• Run Audit Jobs based on discovered software applications to determine if the software configuration of your servers complies with a standard configuration.
• Analyze servers for compliance with compliance rules that involve software applications.
