Using silent mode to install the Application Server (Windows)
You can perform an unattended (silent) installation of the Application Server on a Windows system on which no previous version of this component is installed.
If a previous version is already installed, see Using-silent-mode-to-upgrade-the-Application-Server-Windows.
The Application Server installation does not install the TrueSight Server Automation Console. To view the console, you must install it. For information, see Using-silent-mode-to-install-the-TrueSight-Server-Automation-Console-Windows.
This topic includes the following sections:
Before you begin
- To perform this installation, you must have local administrator privileges.
- You must set up your database schema. See Setting-up-an-Oracle-database-for-TrueSight-Server-Automation and Setting-up-a-SQL-Server-database-and-user-for-TrueSight-Server-Automation .
- On 64-bit Windows systems, confirm that the <WINDIR>\SysWOW64 directory contains a copy of the chcp.com file. The installer uses this file to set the code page of standard output (stdout). You can obtain the file from a 32-bit version of Windows.
- If you plan to use the bljython utility, install the Jython utility before installing the Application Server.
- New in 8.9.02Ensure that Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Update 3 is installed on the server. For more information, see Installing an RSCD agent (Windows).
To install the Application Server in silent mode
- Copy the Application Server installation program (BSAversion-platform.exe) to the Windows system where you plan to create the response file.
- To create the response file, perform the following steps:
Enter the following command:
<version>-<platform>.exe> -a -r -f1<WINDIR>\Temp\<silentInstallFilePath.iss>
The variable <silentInstallFilePath.iss>is the name of response file that you are creating.- Use the program to perform an initial installation of the Application Server. Select your options. The options are recorded in the .iss file.
- When you complete the installation, open the .iss file in a text editor and note the identifier for Dlg0. You need this number to run the silent installation. For example: Dlg0={2C20E5A3-D863-458F-B231-6823B8E7C47C}
- To run the silent installation, at the command line, enter the following command:
<version>-<platform>.exe> /s /ig<GUID> /f1<WINDIR>\Temp\<silentInstallFilePath.iss>
where- <version>-<platform>.exe> is the name of the Application Server installer.
- <GUID> is the identification number for the GUID from the .iss file.
- <silentInstallFilePath.iss> is the name of the response file that you created.
For example:
D:\BladeLogic\bsa89-sp3-WIN32.exe /s /ig{2C20E5A3-D863-458F-B231-6823B8E7C47C} /f1C:\8_6AppServer.iss
Guidelines
- Ensure that no space exists between the /f1 option and the .iss file name or path.
- During this silent installation, no database configuration options are set. You must configure the database as a separate operation after installation.
Where to go from here
- To configure the Application Server and set up administrator passwords, use the Post-Install Configuration wizard. See Configuring-a-single-default-Application-Server-on-the-host.
- If you plan to assign the Application Server to a user that is not a member of the Administrators group, confirm that the user has full access to the TrueSight Server Automation directory structure.
- (Optional) Install the TrueSight Server Automation Console silently.
