Adding files to the Depot

You can use the Depot to store files.

After you have added a file to the Depot you can edit it using your choice of editors. For more information about editors, see Content-editors.

To see or modify any properties, permissions, or audit trail information that apply to this file, select the Properties, Permissions, and Audit Trail view.

Instead of adding a file to the Depot, you can store it as a BLPackage. Deploying files as BLPackages provides many advantages over using a File Deploy Job to deploy a file, including the ability to simulate, stage, and undo the deployment.

To add files to the Depot

1. Do one of the following:
   • Click the Depot folder. Right-click the depot folder where you want to add a file. From the pop-up menu, select New > File.
   • Using the Servers folder, navigate to the Live assets node of a server. Using the File System object type, select a file and right-click. From the pop-up menu, select Add To Depot As > Files.
