VM Basic Config - Linux


The VM Basic Config panel for Linux operating systems lets you specify the guest OS basic configuration information host name and domain registration-related information for VMware, Citrix XenServer, and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization platforms.
This panel appears only if the Virtual Guest Package is based on a Linux template.

Fields for Linux operating systems

Under Computer Settings, specify the following:

  • Under Host name, enter the host name for the new VM. Host names can be any combination of alphanumeric characters and can include hyphens (-). However, special characters are not allowed. The host name field is a required field.
  • Under Domain, you can optionally add the new VM to a specific domain.

Note

The fields you see on this panel depend on the operating system type chosen for the virtual machine. The VM Basic Config panel for Microsoft Windows operating systems has different fields.
