Creating PCI FIM component templates
A component template describes characteristics of system objects (components) using properties, parameterized names, and standard names used consistently across servers . A Discover Job uses the component template to find actual objects. For PCI FIM purposes, a component template includes:
- Discover rules — To discover servers to monitor. For example, a component template might be developed for a specific operating system or for servers that host a specific application.
- Parts — To discover the objects on the discovered servers to monitor for integrity. Parts might include files, directories, and other objects such as registry and service configurations on Windows systems.
A complete PCI FIM program typically requires several component templates. For example, you might define one set of templates for applications and another set for servers and other devices.
