Licensing RSCD Agents from older product versions

TrueSight Server Automation supports backward compatibility with older versions of RSCD Agents. This topic explains how to license older BMC Bladelogic RSCD agents (version 8.1 or earlier) that you might have in your environment. After providing the requested information to BMC Support, a command line utility named bllic is provided to you that licenses agents.

Important

This topic applies only to RSCD Agent versions 8.1 and earlier. As of 8.2, you are no longer required to license an RSCD Agent. This topic is meant only as a reference for environments that still have 8.1 or older RSCD Agents.

Before you begin

Run the agentinfo command against each TrueSight Server Automation Application server in the environment where you have older RSCD agents installed, and provide the collected output to BMC Support in a Support case requesting the bllic utility. The agentinfo output looks similar to the following:

To license an agent with the bllic utility

After you receive the bllic utility, distribute it to the application servers in your environment, and use the following syntax to license agents:

bllic <host1> [<host2> <host3> ...]

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
