Preparing to perform OVF provisioning

This topic provides information about preparing for Open Virtualization Format (OVF) provisioning.

  • Ensure that the BMC Server Automation system is set up for provisioning, including setting up the datastores for PXE provisioning. (For more details, see Setting-up-the-provisioning-environment.)
  • Make sure that both the source and target Virtual Center servers are enrolled in the BMC Server Automation system and can access the provisioning datastore. (The source Virtual Center server contains the virtual machine you want to capture. The target Virtual Center server is where you want to put the resulting templates.)
    • For information on how to enroll these servers, see Adding-a-server-to-the-system.
    • Make sure the user running the BLCLI commands has write permission to the provisioning datastore.
  • On the BMC Application Server containing the enrolled Virtual Center servers, enable web services.
    1. To enable web services on the Application Server, start the blasadmin utility and type the following command:
      set AppServer enableWebServices true
    2. Restart the Application Server.
