Downloading patches using defined filters for Oracle Solaris

The following procedure describes how to download patches from the Oracle website using filters defined in the configuration file.

Warning

Notes

  • You can run the Patch Downloader for Oracle Solaris on a Microsoft Windows, Oracle Solaris, or Linux server. If you are running the offline downloader on an Oracle Solaris or a Linux server, ensure that you run it with the sh command. If you are not using the sh command to run the offline downloader, ensure that you have executable permissions (755) to run the script.
  • The Patch ID filter does not download dependent patches and results in an incomplete patch catalog. Remediation Jobs require that dependent patches be available from the patch catalog so they can be applied as well. For this reason, BMC does not recommend using this procedure to download patches from the Oracle website.

To download patches for defined filters

On the command line, enter the following command:

solaris_downloader.bat|sh solaris_downloader.sh -configFile <downloaderConfigurationFilePath>
-oracleUser <oracleUserName> -oraclePass <oraclePassword>

This command uses the following variables:

<downloaderConfigurationFilePath>

The location of the Configuration File used by the Patch Downloader. Quotation marks around the path are required.

<oracleUserName>

The user name required to log onto the Oracle website. Quotation marks are required.

<oraclePassword>

The password required to log onto the Oracle website. Quotation marks are required.
