Managing patches through the analysis results view


This section consists of the following topics:

To deploy selected patches (Microsoft Windows or Solaris)

To deploy selected patches for Microsoft Windows or Solaris, do the following steps:

  1. In the Jobs folder, right-click the Patching Job and select Show Results.
  2. Expand the Job Run Node.
  3. In Object View, right-click one or more patches and select Deploy Selected Patches.
    TrueSight Server Automation opens a Remediation Job for the selected patches.

    Note

    Single patch selection in Object View and deploy is not supported in Linux.

To download selected patches (Microsoft Windows or Solaris)

To download selected patches for Microsoft Windows or Solaris, do the following steps:

  1. In the Jobs folder, right-click the Patching Job and select Show Results.
  2. Expand the Job Run Node.
  3. In Object View, right-click one or more patches and select Download Selected Patches
    TrueSight Server Automation downloads payload for the selected patches that only have metadata in the Patch catalog.

To open the patch (all platforms)

To open patches, do the following steps:

  1. In the Jobs folder, right-click the Patching Job and select Show Results.
  2. Expand the Job Run Node.
  3. In Object View, right-click a patch and select Open Patch
    TrueSight Server Automation opens the Depot-Software-Properties box with a two-page, read-only description of the metadata for the selected patch.

To remediate all servers (all platforms)

To remediate all servers, do the following steps:

  1. In the Jobs folder, right-click the Patching Job and select Show Results.
  2. Expand the Job Run Node.
  3. Right-click Server View and select Remediate All Servers.
    TrueSight Server Automation opens a Remediation Job to install all missing patches on all target servers listed in the Patching Job.

To download all missing patches (Microsoft Windows or Solaris)

To download all missing patches, do the following steps:

  1. In the Jobs folder, right-click the Patching Job and select Show Results.
  2. Expand the Job Run Node.
  3. Right-click Server View and select Download All Missing Patches
    TrueSight Server Automation downloads payload for all patches that only have metadata in the Patch catalog.

To exclude patches from the Object View (Microsoft Windows only)

You can exclude both available and missing patches from a Windows server. To exclude patches from one or more servers or server groups, do the following steps:

  1. In the Jobs folder, right-click the Patching Job and select Show Results.
  2. Expand the Job Run Node.
  3. On the Object View, select one or more patches.
  4. Right-click and select Exclude Patch From Server.
    The following figure shows the Object View and the Exclude Patch From Server option.

  5. In the Exclude Patch From Server window, click Add to add servers and/or server groups from which you want to exclude the patches.

These patches will be excluded during the next patch analysis. This option is available only for Windows servers.

To exclude patches from the Server View (Microsoft Windows only)

You can exclude available and missing patches from a Windows server. To exclude patches from a server:

  1. In the Jobs folder, right-click the Patching Job and select Show Results.
  2. Expand the Job Run Node.
  3. On the Server View, select a Windows server and one or more patches,
  4. Right-click and select Exclude Patch From Server to exclude the patches from the server.
    The following figure shows the Server View and the Exclude Patch From Server option.

These patches will be excluded during the next patch analysis. This option is available only for Windows servers.

To exclude patches from the Server View - Group Explorer (Microsoft Windows only)

You can exclude both available and missing patches from a Windows server. To exclude patches from a server:

  1. In the Jobs folder, right-click the Patching Job and select Show Results.
  2. Expand the Job Run Node.
  3. On the Server View, you can find the Group Explorer tab in the bottom panel.  This explorer shows the list of patches from the selected server. In Group Explorer, select one or more patch to exclude. 
  4. Right-click and select Exclude Patch From Server to exclude the patches from the server.
    The following figure shows the Server View - Group Explorer and the Exclude Patch From Server option.

These patches will be excluded during the next patch analysis. This option is available only for Windows servers.

Note

You can exclude only hotfixes from the Windows server. This feature is not applicable for service packs.
