Providing password information in a BLPackage
In certain situations while using the BLPackage editor, the Password Required window may display and ask you for password information. The Password Required window appears when you do any of the following:
- Edit the password field for a Windows service or COM+ object.
- Perform a procedure that requires password access to a Windows service or COM+ object, such as when you attempt to verify a package that contains a service.
- Add a Windows local user.
- Delete a Windows local user. The password you provide is used if you undo deployment of the BLPackage, and the local user is recreated as part of that undo.
Modify the password for a Windows local user.
To provide password information in a BLPackage
- In the Password Required window, do one of the following:
- Select Enter user ID and password. Then, for User ID, enter the appropriate user ID. (If you are creating a BLPackage for a Windows local user, this field is not editable.) For Password, enter the password. For Confirm Password, enter the password again to confirm your typing. The password you enter is used for all objects requiring password access in this BLPackage.
- Select Enter user ID/password property names. Then, for User ID property, enter a parameter name, such as ??USERIDS??. A matching parameter name must be assigned to target servers so the parameter can be resolved and the appropriate user ID provided when the BLPackage is deployed. Similarly, for Password property, enter a parameter name, such as ??PASSWORD??, which provides a password that is resolved when the package is deployed.
- Check Use the same credentials every time the user '<user_name>' is found if you want the user ID and password you have entered for <user_name> to apply to every target server where that user name exists.
- Click OK.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
