Performing actions on a server or phase

Using Deploy Job results, you can take a number of actions when a job is in an incomplete state, and you want to take actions so the job succeeds or fails.

To take action on a job as a whole, see Performing-actions-on-a-job.

To perform actions on a server or phase

  1. In the Jobs folder, select a Deploy Job. Right-click and select Show Results from the pop-up menu. A tab opens showing results for the Deploy Job.
  2. Select a run of a job and a section on the right side of the current tab shows two tabs: Deploy Status and Log Messages.
  3. Click the Deploy Status  tab and do any of the following:
    • Remove a target from this job by selecting a target where the job is incomplete, right-clicking, and selecting Remove.
    • Retry the job on a target by selecting a target where the job is incomplete, right-clicking, and selecting Retry.
The job immediately runs the phase of the job that did not complete previously.
    • Retry the job for multiple targets and phases by selecting the cells where the job is incomplete. Right-click and select Retry from the pop-up menu.
The job immediately runs the phases of the job that previously did not complete on the selected targets.
    • Show the current status of all targets by clicking Show Summary on the Deploy Status tab. Show the history of all job attempts by clicking Show Details on the Deploy Status tab.
When you are showing summary information, the Show Details button appears. When you are showing history information, the Show Summary button appears.
    • Show log messages generated when a job executes a particular phase on a target by selecting the cell representing that target and phase.
The Log Messages pane at the bottom of the window shows messages generated during that phase on the selected target.
  4. To show messages generated for the entire job run that is currently selected, click the Log Messages (run level) tab.
  5. If you want to export the log for the job run in CSV format, so that you can later import the log contents into spreadsheets or databases, perform the following steps:

    1. Right-click the job run and select Export Log.
    2. In the Export Results dialog box, specify the location where you want to store the exported results and enter a name for the file.
    3. From File encoding, select the type of character encoding to use for the exported file.
    4. Click Save.

The CSV file is saved in the specified location. The CSV file contains the following values:

    Participant,Step,Attempt,Date,Type,Message,Item Id,Item Name

    For example (on one line):

    eng.bladelogic.com,Commit,1,10/07/2013 10:05:47,Info,
    Processing asset FILE,2,C:/Apps/LTSec/bin/NUETPolicy.dll
