UCS Provision Job - UCS Profile Configuration

This panel enables you to specify values that override the values in the UCS template.

Field

Description

Server Name and UCS Name

Server Name and UCS Name: These are read-only fields. When you specify a blade, the system populates the Server Name field with the name of the UCS Manager server, and it populates the UCS Name field with the name of the UCS system that contains the blade.

Blade, Blade Pool, Blade Path

You can specify either a blade or a blade pool. Click the browse BrowseIcon.bmp icon and navigate through the UCS Manager server's Live node down to the blade or blade pool you want.

Examples:
Live/UCS Manager/individual_ucs/Chassis Group/Chassis/Blades/Blade
Live/UCS Manager/individual_ucs/Logical/Org/Blade Pools/Blade Pool

The path to the blade or blade pool appears in the Blade Path field.

UUID and UUID Pool

You can manually specify a UUID, or browse to a previously created UUID pool. For more information, see Creating-a-UUID-pool.

LAN VNICs

Accept the LAN VNIC settings or do either of the following:

  • Select a LAN VNIC and click Edit UpdateIcon.bmp to change its settings.
  • Check Use common MAC pool and browse to a common MAC pool that you want to use for all LAN NICs.

SAN HBAs

Accept the SAN HBA settings or do one of the following:

  • Select a SAN HBA and click Edit UpdateIcon.bmp to change its settings.
  • Select Use Pools. Then select the storage pools you want the provisioning process to use to allocate addresses for all of the SAN HBAs. You can select a UCS Storage Pool, a UCS Bootable Storage Pool, or both.
  • Select Provide WWNN Manually and enter the WWNN address in the box.

Validate

Click Validate to check the following items and display errors.

  • For UUID:
    • The syntax is valid and the UUID is not already allocated.
    • The pool (if selected) is valid and a UUID is available within the pool.
  • The selected blade path is valid.
  • For LAN NICs in the profile:
    • The syntax of the MAC address is valid and the address is not already allocated.
    • The MAC pool (if selected) is valid and enough addresses are available.
    • At least one NIC is present in the boot order.
  • For SAN Storage configuration:
    • If addresses have been specified manually, then verify that the syntaxes are correct and that the addresses are not already allocated (in use).
    • If storage or bootable pools are configured, then verify that address pairs are available in the specified pools such that WWNN is common across each of them and none of the WWNN/WWPN addresses is already allocated (in use).
  • The profile does not already exist on the selected UCS.
  • Check that the blade pool (if specified) is valid and that the pool has at least one free blade.
