Setting up TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery


You can integrate TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery with TrueSight Server Automation system. It enable the discovery and management of third-party software applications in collaboration with BMC Discovery.

Before you begin

Before you set up TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery, verify that the following product requirements are met:

  • TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery provides add-on content for the client tier of a TrueSight Server Automation system. To introduce this content, you must already have TrueSight Server Automation version 20.02 or later installed.
  • TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery obtains information about the installed third-party software applications through an integration with BMC Discovery. Ensure that you have BMC Discovery version 11.3 installed, and that BMC Discovery is configured to gather information from the relevant servers.
  • All servers from which BMC Discovery gathers information are added to the TrueSight Server Automation system using their short names. At this time, TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery does not support servers identified using IP addresses or fully qualified names. For example, add a server to the system using a name like server1 rather than a fully qualified name such as server1.prod.mycompany.com.

To set up TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery

To set up and integrate TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery with TrueSight Server Automation system, perform the following setup tasks:

The same setup tasks (listed above) are required also if you are upgrading an existing setup of TrueSight Server Configuration Discovery in the TrueSight Server Automation system.
