Broadcasting messages to RCP clients
You can broadcast messages to all RCP clients associated with the Application Server (or, in the case of clustering, several Application Servers). Messages that you author are broadcast through the Messages view and can be viewed by all users of the RCP clients until the time of message expiry that you set.
To author and broadcast a message to the RCP clients
- Select Configuration > Infrastructure Management.
- In the Infrastructure Management window, right-click Message Service and select Send Broadcast Message.
- In the New Message dialog box, enter a mandatory subject (up to 200 characters) for the message.
- (Optional) Enter body text for the message, up to 2000 characters.
- If you want to set the message as high priority, select the Importance check box.
- Set the date of expiry for the message, up to 90 days from the creation of the message.
Click Send.
The message is broadcast to the RCP clients during the next message polling cycle (default: 2 minutes). RCP users receive a one-time pop-up display of the message upon arrival and can subsequently view the message through the Messages view.
