Downloading AIX patches using defined filters

The following procedure describes how to download AIX patches using filters defined in the configuration file, and how to obtain a list of all technical levels, service packs, and concluding service packs available for download.

Note

You can run the Patch Downloader for AIX on AIX servers using SUMA. Ensure that you run it with the sh command. If you are not using the sh command to run the offline downloader, ensure that you have executable permissions (755) to run the script.

To download patches using defined filters on AIX

Based on the download option you are using, enter either of the following commands on the command line:

Using the SUMA download option

sh aix_downloader.sh -aixDLType suma -configFile "<downloaderConfigurationFilePath>"

This command uses the following variable:

<downloaderConfigurationFilePath>

The location of the Configuration File used by the Patch Downloader. Quotation marks around the path are required.

Using the Fixget download option

Important

IBM no longer supports fixget for AIX version 6.x and later. Therefore, TrueSight Sever Automation does not support fixget for downloading patch catalogs for AIX version 6.x and later.

sh aix_downloader.sh -configFile "<downloaderConfigurationFilePath>"

This command uses the following variable:

<downloaderConfigurationFilePath>

The location of the Configuration File used by the Patch Downloader. Quotation marks around the path are required.

To download the list of available technology levels, service packs, and concluding service packs

On the command line, enter the following command:

sh aix_downloader.sh -listChannels
