Viewing an untrusted certificate
In certain situations, when you log on to TrueSight Server Automation, a security dialog box warns that you are presented with an untrusted certificate.
Typically Application Servers use self-signed certificates, so the first time you attempt to connect to an Application Server you will probably encounter a certificate that your client application does not already trust.
If your installation uses multiple Application Servers, they may share the same certificates. In this situation, you should not encounter the security warning when you connect to different Application Servers.
If this security warning appears, BMC recommends that you examine the certificate. If the certificate's details indicate it should be trusted, accept the certificate. After you choose to trust the certificate, it is added to the keystore for your client application. The keystore contains a list of all trusted certificates.
To view an untrusted certificate
- Log on to TrueSight Server Automation, as described in Starting-the-TrueSight-Server-Automation-Console.
When you click Connect, a Security Alert dialog box appears if the Application Server is presenting a certificate that the client application does not trust. - Click View Certificate.
The Certificate dialog box opens, showing the General tab. The tab shows the certificate issuer and to whom the certificate was issued. - To obtain more information about the certificate, click the Details tab.
- To return to the Security Alert dialog box, click Close.
- Do one of the following:
- To trust the certificate and continue logging on, click Yes.
- To refuse the certificate and return to the logon dialog box, click No. You can then select a different authentication profile and attempt to log on again.
