Capturing a VM and staging it as a template and a VGP

This scenario walks you through capturing a virtual machine (VM) as an .ovf file, then staging it as a template and a Virtual Guest Package (VGP).

  1. To capture and stage a VM, use the captureAndStageVM command. This command takes three arguments:
    • groupName — Pparent group for this job
    • jobName — Name of the job
    • inputFile — Input file path
The input file contains all the specifications for the job, so the first step is to create the input file, as described in Creating-the-input-file.
  2. Run the captureAndStageVM command, as described in Running-the-captureAndStageVM-command.
  3. Check job results, as described in Checking-the-job-results.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
