Extended objects

TrueSight Server Automation lets you create extended objects, which are custom objects presenting information not included in a standard installation. After creating an extended object, you can use the TrueSight Server Automation Console to browse, snapshot, audit, and run compliance on the contents of the extended object just as you would any other server object. For example, you can create custom objects that do any of the following:

  • Provide IP and other configuration settings for all the installed network cards on a server.
  • Provide information about local user accounts on a server.
  • Show data stored in a SQL database.
  • Integrate with third party solutions to provide information about agent-less devices, including routers, switches, and storage area networks (SAN).

After you create an extended object, it can be displayed in a smart group. You can execute Snapshot, Audit, and Compliance Jobs against that group to ensure that the configurations represented by these extended objects do not drift from your organizational standard.
