Creating SOCKS proxy server objects

To route communications through a SOCKS proxy server, you first create a proxy server object in the TrueSight Server Automation infrastructure.

To create and manage proxy server objects, your role must be granted the BL_Administration.Read and BL_Administration.Write authorization in RBAC.

To create a proxy server object

Select Configuration > Infrastructure Management.
In the Infrastructure Management window, right-click the Proxy Servers node. Then select New Proxy Server from the pop-up menu. The New Proxy Server wizard opens.

On the General panel, enter the following information for the SOCKS proxy server:

Field	Description
Name	Name of the proxy server. This name can be any name. The TrueSight Server Automation system uses it for identification and display within the system.
Description	(Optional) Descriptive text about the proxy server.
Host	Name or IP address (IPv4 or IPv6) of the host machine for the proxy server.
Port	Port for the SOCKS proxy.
User name and Password	User name and password for logging on to the SOCKS proxy. If the SOCKS proxy does not require these credentials, leave these text boxes blank.
Resolve host name	Specifies whether or not the proxy server resolves Domain Name System (DNS) host names. Set to True to allow the SOCKS proxy server to resolve host names. Set to False to use the DNS server in the local network. This setting is important in networks where target servers do not necessarily have unique IP addresses. In those networks, a proxy server can use a DNS server different from that of the Application Server. Setting Resolve host name to True lets you have two target servers that have the same IP address but still have unique identities, each through a different DNS server.

Click Finish. The Infrastructure Management window lists the proxy server object you created.
You can edit the properties of a proxy server, delete proxy server objects, and check to see if the proxy server is operational. For information, see Managing-SOCKS-proxy-servers.
