UCS Template - SAN HBAs tab

The SAN HBAs tab enables you to configure SAN storage adapters. Configure SAN storage adapters manually or by using pools.

  • Provide WWNN manually: Choose this option to configure storage adapters by entering individual WWNN, WWPN, or target WWN addresses.
  • Use Pools: Choose this option to allocate addresses from a UCS storage pool or a UCS bootable storage pool. Follow these guidelines:
    • You can specify a UCS storage pool or a UCS bootable storage pool or both.
    • If there is at least one SAN HBA in the template boot order, specify a bootable storage pool.
    • If there is no SAN HBA in the template boot order, specify a storage pool.
    • This option overrides WWNN address settings for individual HBAs. The provisioning process allocates addresses for all of the SAN HBAs from the specified pool. For information on creating storage pools, see Creating-a-storage-pool

To add or edit a SAN HBA

  1. Select the SAN HBA for which you want to specify settings, or click Add a new SAN HBA AddButton.bmp.
  2. In the displayed dialog box, provide the following information:
    • Name: Uniquely identifies a SAN HBA within the context of the template.
    • WWN Address: (For manual address configuration only) Choose this option to specify the WWN address manually.
    • Derived WWN: (For manual address configuration only) If you choose this option, the WWN address is obtained from the hardware on which you deploy the profile.
      Note:
Do not use the Derived WWN method for target blades containing the M81KR VIC. That option causes the UCSProvisionJob to fail with an appropriate error message in the Job log.
    • VSAN Name: Specify the SAN to which you want the HBA to connect.
    • Switch ID: Depending on the selected SAN, you can choose which switch to use for communication and whether failover is supported or not. Make sure that your switch selection is valid for the specified SAN—an invalid combination can prevent the profile from getting associated with a blade.
    • Primary Target WWN and Primary Target Lun: (For manual address configuration only) These values are used to connect to the SAN storage for boot-from-SAN volumes. Obtain these values from the SAN administrator.
    • Secondary Target WWN and Secondary Target Lun: These values are used to connect to the SAN storage for boot-from-SAN volumes. Obtain these values from the SAN administrator. They are used with the primary set for multi-path storage.
