How to perform script-based patch analysis for Solaris 11

Due to changes introduced by Oracle into version 11 of the Solaris operating system, patch management for Solaris 11 differs from patch management for previous versions of Solaris. Rather than managing your Solaris patches using the main patch management feature in TrueSight Server Automation, as done for Solaris 9 and 10 (see Patch-management-overview-and-workflow), patch management for Solaris 11 is currently performed using a pair of scripts packaged and provided in TrueSight Server Automation.

As an alternative to performing patching analysis on Solaris 11 using this script-based patching solution, you can deploy IPS packages (.p5p archive files) that were prepared using Solaris tools. To do this, you first add software to the depot using the following option: New > Software > Solaris IPS Package.
