Creating a bootable storage pool

You can create a storage pool of addresses for the provisioning process to use in configuring a bootable SAN HBA adapter (HBAs that have been added to the boot order of the template).

A bootable storage pool is similar to a storage pool in that it has paired WWNN and WWPN addresses; however, for a bootable storage pool, you also need to specify target LUN information.

Note

If you run out of addresses in a UCS Bootable Storage pool, you can deallocate one or more addresses, thus making them available for provisioning. For information, see Managing-UCS-systems.

To create a bootable storage pool

  1. In the Depot folder, right-click a folder under which you want to create the pool and select New > UCS > Bootable Storage Pool.
  2. Provide information for the new pool as described in the following sections:

  3. Click Finish.
The bootable storage pool appears in the Depot folder hierarchy.

Note

To edit a defined pool, open the Depot folder and navigate to the pool. Right-click the name of the pool and select Open. The pool appears in the editor, where you can change, add or delete pool entries.
