Installing

The topics in this section describe how to install TrueSight Server Automation.

After installing the product, proceed to Configuring-after-installation to perform post-installation tasks.

Available installation paths

Installation of the TrueSight Server Automation system involves installation of the Application Server, TrueSight Server Automation Console, Network Shell, RSCD agent, and PXE/TFTP server.

To install TrueSight Server Automation, you can use the unified product installer method or the individual component installer method.

  • The unified product installer simplifies and improves the installation experience by providing a centralized UI for installation of all TrueSight Server Automation components. BMC recommends using the unified product installer.
  • Individual component installers enable you to set up a TrueSight Server Automation environment in special situations, such as an environment where you have multiple Application Servers on different OSs, or your Application Server is running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux X86_32. Using this method, you first manually set up the database and then run individual installers for each of the TrueSight Server Automation components.
Use the individual component installers for the following scenarios:
    • You want to deploy the Application Server on Linux with an SQL database
    • You want to deploy the Application Server on Windows with an Oracle database

You can also install the individual components silently and uninstall the product and individual components.

In addition, Compliance Content add-ons are available for the installation of out-of-the-box component templates for compliance with regulatory standards and best-practice policies.
