Import Devices - Select File
The Import Devices panel lets you select a MAC address file and associate a provisioning method with the devices in the file.
Field definitions
Provisioning Method | Choose the provisioning method for the devices in this file. Click either PXE, JumpStart, x86 JumpStart, NIM, Ignite PA-RISC, or Ignite Itanium. |
(Applies to PXE provisioning only) Boot Image File | Select the boot image file to provision on these devices. For information, see Boot image files and placeholders. |

Results of bulk import
Boot image files are architecture-specific. The import process compares the ARCHITECTURE property values in the MAC address file to the architecture associated with the selected boot image file. The process sets provisioning attributes separately for each device using the following rules:
ARCHITECTURE property for a device (set in the MAC address import file) | Architecture associated with boot image file | Resulting attributes set by the import process (for each device) |
---|---|---|
32-bit or 64-bit | Matches the device value | Values set as specified. |
64-bit | 32-bit | Values set as specified. (It is valid to provision a 32-bit boot image over a 64-bit architecture.) |
32-bit | 64-bit | Device architecture set as specified. Because it is not valid to provision a 64-bit boot image over a 32-bit architecture, the system sets the boot image file to the default 32-bit boot image file. For information about default boot images, including how to set them, see Configuring-boot-image-files. |
not provided | 32-bit or 64-bit | Device architecture set to match the specified boot image file. |
