This topic describes the important announcements and changes for TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation. These changes can affect the way in which you configure and run TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation.

Background

TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation is a reporting solution for TrueSight Server Automation and TrueSight Automation for Servers. The solution enables the long-term collection and summarization of TrueSight Server Automation data into the TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse. It provides a reporting engine (YellowFin) and out-of-the-box report templates to generate reports from the data collected in TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse.

In TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation product versions prior to 20.02.01, TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse used a third-party data integrator for the ETL process to extract, transform, and load data from the TrueSight Server Automation database to TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse. Starting with the TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation 20.02.01 release, TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse uses a proprietary data integrator developed by BMC called BMC Data Integrator (BDI) for the same ETL process.

Discontinuation of TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse 8.9.04.004 and earlier versions

BMC plans to discontinue any further distribution of the earlier versions of TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse (version 8.9.04.004 and earlier) that used the third-party integrator. You will be able to download these earlier versions until the end of February 2021. Effective March 1, 2021, these TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse versions will be removed from the EPD site. If you are using 8.9.04.004 or earlier versions of TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse, BMC will continue to support them as per their end of support dates. To avoid any future support issues while using the earlier versions that leverage the third-party data integrator, BMC recommends upgrading TrueSight Server Automation - Data Warehouse to the latest version (20.02.01).

Statement of direction

BMC will continue to invest in reporting capabilities for TrueSight Server Automation and recommends upgrading your TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation environment to the latest version (20.02.01). A migration path is available from any supported version of TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation to TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation 20.02.01.
