Supported platforms



This topic lists the operating system platform versions that are supported by TrueSight Server Automation. If the UPI does not support your operating system version, you can use the individual component installers to manually install or upgrade a component.  

Support for third-party products

To receive full support for a BMC product, you must have such product installed in a supported environment, as specified in the BMC product documentation. If a third-party vendor cancels support for one of its products (such as an operating system or subsystem), and that third-party product integrates or interacts with the BMC product you have licensed, you must upgrade to a supported version of that third-party product before BMC Customer Support can provide you with support for the affected BMC product. For further information, see BMC's product support policy.


Supported platforms for TrueSight Server Automation installers

Depending on the TrueSight Server Automation version that you are using, select the appropriate tab:

1 For Solaris 11, a separate script-based solution is provided. See How-to-perform-script-based-patch-analysis-for-Solaris-11.

2 For HP-UX and CentOS Linux, a separate script-based solution called Vendor Patch Content (VPC) is provided. See How-to-perform-HP-UX-or-CentOS-patch-analysis-using-Vendor-Patch-Content.

3 Oracle Solaris 10 also supports 64-bit operating systems that run 32-bit binary files.

4 Bare metal provisioning is supported on SCCM 3.2.

5 Bare metal provisioning is supported on vCenter ESXi Server 6.5.

6 Aries emulator installation is required on all HP-UX servers with IA64 architecture.

7 Supports both out-of-the-box and VPC-based patching solutions.

8 The Hardware Information custom object is not supported on Linux with ppc64le architecture.

10 The Hardware Information custom object is not supported on Linux with ppc64le architecture.

  • Smart Agent is supported on these 64-bit systems:

To patch SuSE 15 targets, ensure that the patch repository server runs the SuSE 11 or 12 system and is configured with Subscription Management Tool (SMT). A server that runs SuSE 15 with RMT is not supported for the patch repository.

SuSE Linux 12

  • SuSE Linux with createrepo and python-urlgrabber installed.
  • SuSE Linux with SMT installed.
    Note: To patch SuSE 12 targets, ensure that the SuSE patch repository server is configured with SMT.

The following table lists the versions that are installed with SMT out-of-the-box, as well as the versions on which SMT must be manually installed.

Note: SuSE recommends upgrading SuSE 12 to SuSE 12 SP1 to avoid dependency issues.

Not configured with SMT out of the box. You must manually install and configure SMT (version 11 SP3) on the repository server before you create a SuSE patch catalog.

SMT is shipped out-of-the-box with the operating system.

Warning: BMC strongly recommends using Zypper when creating a patching job for a patch catalog that was created using the Subscription Management Tool (SMT). For more information, see Zypper patching tool.

An HP-UX patch repository must reside either directly on the HP-UX (SWA) Server or in a directory that the SWA Server considers to be a local share.

Note that if you are using an offline downloader, you can run the offline downloader on any Windows or Linux machine, but the HP-UX patch repository must still reside on the HP-UX (SWA) Server.
